Join Me on My Surface Pattern Design Journey!

Welcome to my surface pattern design community! I am thrilled to have you join me as I embark on a journey to license my art with manufacturers.

My patterns feature beautiful floral motifs and vintage color palettes, making them perfect for a wide range of products such as wrapping paper, wallpaper, stationery, phone cases, fabric, and much more. In the coming months, I’ll be sharing my successes and challenges, as well as providing tips and tricks for creating your own surface pattern designs.

But this journey is about more than just me. I want to bring you along with me, so that you can learn from my experiences and gain valuable insight into the world of surface pattern design.

I also want to hear from you! Do you have any tips or tricks that you’d like to share with me? Are there any questions you have about my process or the surface pattern design industry in general? I’d love to hear from you and have you be a part of my community.

Thank you for joining me on this exciting journey to license my designs. I can’t wait to share my progress with you and help you on your own design journey!

With gratitude,

Rosalinde Clara

Do you have any insight into licensing basics? Things like, questions you should ask? What the typical proce of licensing a design is? For instance, what the typical percentage of the item's sale price ( that your art is on) is a realistic ask, as far as your portion of profit?

Hello!

Thank you so much for your great questions! I am just delving into the world of licensing so I can only give you the advise that I have learnt from others (hopefully I can confirm this soon!).

Here is what I have learnt and what I will be asking: *royalties can typically be anywhere from 3%-8% *some companies will offer to buy your design outright *ask which territories and categories your designs will be licensed in/on

*determine if the license is exclusive or non-exclusive

I hope to have more insight in to this in the near future as I send out my portfolio for licensing . In the meantime, feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to get…
